Lake Life (week 1)

Life comes at you fast, at the lake.  What with all the boat rides and swimming and sunsets and parties and waterfalls and family and fun to be had, there's just no time left for photo management.  Here is the first of a few installments to show off our particularly lovely two weeks at the Point.

Boat dog.
Boat girl.
The gang of kids.  Uno, Exploding Kittens and Life were the games of choice this year.

These three were inseparable for our first week.  Reese, Isla, and Ivy...
Living the life of leisure, complete with hammock and Kanjam...
Just another normal night of dinner at the point... (ok, so we DID make a little bit too much chicken.  Chicken salad for the week!!)

The real treat for our first week at the Point was having some of our favorite people there with us.  Jamison and Casey were in for the whole week and stayed at the yellow cottage so we got to take them for granted, having coffee and chatting as we came and went...

Sara and her family were also in for the week and that meant campfires every night, neighbors to meet at the raft, and a fun surprise birthday party for Sara's mom on Saturday...

When we weren't socializing like crazy, we were...
Taking boat rides...

..enjoying the view...
... painting nails...

...taking more boat rides...
...watching sunsets...
... and, of course, making lemonade for the much anticipated annual tradition-- the 4th of July Family Extortion Project.  I mean, lemonade stand.  These girls took their entrepreneurial venture VERY seriously, and there was the added drama of a group of kids who had a competing stand  at the park...  Talk about nerve wracking.
They managed to have some fun on the holiday while they were at it, though, never fear.

Farley's Point 2019

Cutest parade ever.
Lemonade wars in full force.
The little entrepreneurs netted about 40 dollars, thanks in large part to Holly's pinterest-worthy rice krispy treats.

After a long, hot morning of parading, singing, socializing and selling... the only place to be is the raft!
 And then the park...

 ... for fireworks, of course.

Pretty much the only thing to mar the perfection of our Fourth at Farley's was poor Jack's head wound, which he sustained the evening of the 3rd when a girl at the park decided to throw her phone at him, and missed missing his head.  We had just been saying, moments earlier, how proud we were that he was hanging out at the park with some new kids, having so much fun and being so independent.  Then all of a sudden two kids are walking him back with blood running down his face.  Head wounds bleed so much, and this one looked particularly bad because some of the skin had been pushed back (heck of an arm on that girl!) ... in retrospect we should probably have taken him for a few stitches but he was terrified of the idea, so we focused on stopping the bleeding and finding a way to bandage it effectively...
Hence, the lack of Jack photos on the 4th.  He spent most of the day avoiding people because I think he was a bit embarrassed.  Luckily he couldn't say no to fireworks so his holiday worked out alright.

Holidays mean time for another trip to the lake before dinner...

... and cocktail hour, of course.  We take appetizers seriously around here.
 More chatting...

... biding our time in the prettiest of places, waiting for dusk to fall so we could do this:

 ... and this...
Ivy and I watched the second half of the (quite extensive) show from the hammock, strung up on the edge of the water.  What a lovely way to end the day...
