Home again home again....

What a whirlwind of a week!  I feel like I haven't had the time to miss vacation... Except of course that isn't true.  We've all been in various states of withdrawl all week.  Especially hard to adjust to:  No pack of children running about to entertain our littles, who suddenly became incredibly dependent on us for all things, and having to decide on and make dinner for ourselves every single night.  Crazy.  And of course we missed the lake.  The calm blue of it, the easy swimming, the glittering light, the boats.  Sigh.

We went to Rocky River Beach our first day back, hoping Lake Erie would give us a fix.  It was a hot sunny day and the beach was as crowded as I've ever seen it.  We finally found a corner where our group could throw sticks for dogs... and in paddle 10 kayaks loaded up with day campers.  Right into the space where we were.  It was nothing like vacation.  Sigh again.

Overall, though, the week has been good.  I spent more time tutoring than I would have liked, but also found time for Wade Oval Wednesday and a few bike rides and dinner with friends and a quick road trip to Michigan to see the Henderson crew.  Plus a really nice and incredibly productive day today, that started with a beach trip so perfect it more than made up for Tuesday, followed by clearing and organizing the garage, several dresser drawers and the tupperware cabintet, a spontaneous playdate with our new neighbors, a feast of a dinner with M and W, and then a major thunderstorm and a brownout to cap it all off.

Oh, and we fly to Wyoming tomorrow at 2:00.  We haven't started packing, and there are two loads of laundry awaiting attention in the basement, once we get power back on...  Sigh for a third time.

Never a dull moment around here.

Ivy's first french braid.  She'll finally hold still!

One last playdate at Greg and Jeff's old house before their move...

I really like this picture Ivy drew at the library...

Our Dragon at W.O.W.

Our sweet grey haired girl...

There were mascots all over the place this week...

And cornhole!

And this intense, funny face-painted fairy...
A nice visit from friend Donna, complete with sushi and treats at Piccadilly!

A fun day in Michigan!  It was neat to have a road trip with my mom.  Plenty of time to chat along the way and a memorable adventure on the way home involving construction, rain, and missed exits...We had a splendid picnic feast at James and Megan's beautiful home.  Jack and Ivy loved this hammock, and spending time with their incredible cousins Paige and Abby (talk about impressive kids!  These two girls are as smart, talented and kind as they are beautiful!  Of course we would expect no less from the amazing John and Heidi!)  It was a wonderful surprise to have Grandma Jan join us, and I stocked up on Aunt Mary's hugs.  We got to meet Laura's girlfriend Caley and Megan's bunny Nahla.  And having time with Becca and Joe too?  Wonderful.

At the beach today...

Signing off from Ohio! Look for Wyoming trip updates next week!
