In Michigan (a reprise)

Oh how we do love Michigan!

Between our wonderful family reunion at Higgins Lake, and our magical tour of the UP with Melinda and Will, we've got a store of happy, dune-y, lake-y memories of this state.  We'd hoped to return to the UP this summer but with college friends coming to Cleveland in August, our window of time was closed.

Enter my cousins, for the win. At my mom's memorial in March we all enthusiastically said that we needed to do a reunion trip, and Laura's wife Alisa offered the potential use of her family's rental cabins on Paw Paw lake. We started a FB messenger group to plan and... crickets.  Then in late May everyone got fired up again, we all listed our available dates and actually found 4 in common-- and the cabins were even available for us!  It was meant to be.

We had, as always, a most wonderful time.  Two days of Lake Michigan beaching, sand dunes, pickleball, and wonderful family dinners. It was wonderful to spend time with baby Leo (who's hardly a baby any more!) and his amazing parents, and to get to know Alisa a lot better. Paige and Abby have grown into the most delightful young adults, and we got to talk with John about a number of big life decisions he's got coming up.  Whenever I spend time with these remarkable people I realize how lucky I am to have family that I can also count as friends, and to be with them in this beautiful and relaxing location was a gift. Jack and Ivy even played pickleball together in a supportive manner, so the magic of Michigan was clearly at work.

Our sweet little cottage.  SO pretty.

Cornhole and baby cousins.
Paw Paw Lake.  Very Farley's-esque.

St Joe's Beach.

The Pickleball officiator.

Paige and Abby made homemade pizza.

Morning Kayak on our little lake.
Saugatuck State Park.

We made a bench!

Laura and Alisa's pups, Hugo and Fritzie.

Taco night!

Last night campfire.  Laura even played her guitar for a minute!  Love this family of mine...
