Waldameer!

This place, I tell you.  It is magic.  The sun always shines and the breeze is always cool, amd the sights and sounds are tuned to perfectly conjure nostalgia.  When you are at Waldameer, you are in a time out of time- and you already miss it before you leave.  We are so grateful our friends helped us find this little gem, and that our 2022 visit did not disappoint.

One slight hiccup was that Jack did not have a friend available to accompany him, thanks to his work schedule and Covid.  But at the end of the day,  with only the girls and the grownups to choose from, there were some cute moments of togetherness with his sister that were pretty much worth the price of admission.  As were the nonexistent lines for rides, and the delicious fries.  And the swings, of course. God, I love those swings.  I could ride them forever, vestibular system be damned.  That rattly old roller coaster though.  I do love roller coasters... but this old body does not. Sigh. These kids though!  They could spin and drop and flip allll day long.  No problem.  Jack convinced everyone but Lillian (surprisingly!) to ride the Chaos with him this year.  He went on it three times.  I feel ill just thinking about that.  We keep wondering each year when our kiddos might age out of Waldameer.  Thankfully, not yet.

Sometimes one's 40-something sensibilities need a break from all the noise, nostalgic and magical though it may be.  So the grownups plus Jack abandoned the tweens at the park for a visit to Preque Isle.  A completely different type of magic.

We swam around and played frisbee and sat for a while on a breakwall, directly above the "keep off breakwall" sign.  Like you do.

Dinner at Sarah's to end the day, of course.
I just love these people so much.

Thanks, Waldameer.  Stay sweet, see you soon.
