The lake, week two...

We have 4 more days of vacation at the lake.  As I type, the lake beckons softly blue.  It's a perfect morning, breezy and mid 70's and the point is quiet and full of birdsong and the soft smell of cornflowers.  We've had coffee and pancakes and are about to go out for a canoe.  Today holds a visit to the King Ferry Wheat Festival and a meetup with friends at Buttermilk Falls... later.  Right now, its just me and the Adirondack chair and the sunshine, the sort of morning that makes me hold on to our Farley's vacation all year long...

This year's stay has moved at warp speed.  I suppose they always do-- but particularly this year.  Between our midweek arrival and Nat and Jack's trip home, our extended stay has had a truncated feeling, like several short trips strung together.  Swim lessons for a few days, time with Randy's family before they left for their trip to Maine, changing faces at the cottages around us...

A few photos and highlights from the past week...

Ivy and I decided to have a fancy dinner on Saturday night, to celebrate her new garage sale glassware and jewelry.  We made walking tacos.  In bowls because we're fancy.

 Sunday:  a glorious lake day.

Thanks to our neighbor Barb, Ivy and I were treated to paddle boarding, boat riding, and "swimming in the deep end" in the middle of the lake...

 Sunday family dinner!

... and sunset boat rides...

 Monday:  The boys are back!
We had a nice day together that included swim lessons and lots of playing at the point with cousins...
and a stormy sunset boat ride...

Tuesday we had a lovely dinner at Claire's house, and also worked on getting family pictures.

This photo was inspired by the attitude our little Ivy had about family photos.

Managed to turn it around and get a ffew good shots, though.

Nothing like a game of stadium checkers to finish out the day.

Great Gully take two on Wednesday.  This time we hiked to the top falls.

A boat ride with just my boys...

 Look at these twinsies.
Thursday- swim lessons continue even on cloudy rainy days...  Poor Jack finished out the week by whaling his hand against the raft ladder on a relay start and has a black and blue knuckle to show for it...  He rallied though, enough to go out for pancakes at New Hope Mills (his favorite restaurant) with his Lulu.
Then we took our crew to see Fillmore Glen.

The kids spent a long time enjoying the little swimming area where Nat was a guard for 5 years..

Nat and I left them to the expert care of the lifeguards for a while to hike a bit of the gorge trail.  What a pretty place.
We enjoyed the cute little town of Moravia on the way home...
We had dinner with Randy and his family before they took off for their family travels..

How did all these littles get so big??  The triplets continue to be just the most lovely children.  They have just gotten braces, all three-- but nary a complaint from any of them.  They are amazing.
 Obligatory pretty sunset boat picture...
Friday-- a cloudy rainy day on the point.  After playing Sims in the morning (the girls are addicted), we spent the day in Ithaca, shopping at our favorite resales to pass the rainy time.
Got back to the point in time for just enough of the sky to clear, for this magic to happen. Turns out every day is a great lake day around here.
