Merry Christmas!

Christmas in Aurora.
Magical as always.

Such gratitude that we were able to be here for this holiday, for the first time in three years.

Santa always manages to find us in New York

This little girl was up at 4, managed to wait til 6 to wake us, then had to wait two more hours for her brother to emerge before we could start the festivities.  Poor babe.  She takes after her mother- I can never sleep in on Christmas either...

Gift highlights included riding lessons, a golf bag- and a surprise, spontaneously purchased trip to Las Vegas. We also loved Jack's homemade coupons for "reasonable chores" for Nat.

After presents were finished Nat and I enjoyed the 24 degree sunshine with a visit to Farley's and Long Point.  Little different than summer...

We had a different sort of Aurora Christmas this year.  David had Covid so no bug family dinners.  But the healthy Union Springs Morehouse's came over in their masks for presents and cookies and we had a marvelous time catching up, particularly with Hannah and Sarah, who regaled us with all the ways they love college so far.

Then Jamison and Casey arrived and joined us for Christmas dinner and that was a delight too.  In some ways better, I think, than the huge gatherings of the past, because we had more time to really talk with one another.
Same sort of feeling at Betsey and Peter's house on the 26th.  We had cookies and diet coke and presents and laughter and can you even believe the size of these kids.  Alex and Megan are looking at colleges!  Time, you move too fast.

And then just like that we were headed home.  The thruway, which had been closed at Buffalo since the 23rd (they DID get that forecasted storm, it turns out) opened just in time and after a 2 hour brunch at Magee diner we had a smooth drive home.

Santa, true to form, left a few more presents.  But these sweet kids were more excited to be reunited with their cats.

The blessings of this life are sometimes too abundant to comprehend, aren't they.
