June at home

We had exactly 8 days at home between trips, and they were filled with swimming, exploring, and doing our very best to enjoy our beautiful city.    Mostly swimming though.  This summer swim team thing is serious business!

An evening walk at Wade Oval....

A visit to Nelson's Ledges because why not drive an hour right after a long trip?

The magic here is worth it.

I love this picture of Jack helping Ivy down a slope.   Rock- climbing brings out the best in our kids.

Until they get really tired, that is.

Of course we had to go down the road and visit sheep and goat!

(and get two 30-gallon bags of wool.  Spinning is back around here...)

Vacation dog on porch.
Boy with new short summer haircut on porch.  He is very enamored of his new cut and checks how it looks constantly.  So very very grown up, this one.
Wade Oval Wednesday!  We let the kids stay home and just went for a quick walk around the circle to enjoy the sights and sounds. One of these days we will muster the motivation to pack a picnic and fight the crowds and stay for a while.

A wonderful "Irish Dinner" at our friends' house to celebrate their trip to Ireland... and to play some SERIOUS Harry Potter.  Here are the kids with their bags and animals packed to get on the train.

This is during Charms class, where Ivy was putting her instructional tendencies to good use.  We also saw the sorting process and a great potions class.
A nice morning at Rocky River beach with my  mom and her dog.  Two wet spaniels!
Winter learned to fetch!  She also learned that swimming is great, and if she did not beat Pip to the toy she would just tool around in the water for a while before heading back, sometimes grabbing a leaf or tiny twig to bring back with her.  I love her so much.

Swim Meet Saturday- only on a Friday night!  Our second meet went much like the first, only without rain delays and with the addition of an extremely loud loudspeaker right near our otherwise-idyllic spot.  Jack won 2 out of 3 races (his medley relay team was disqualified but not by him!) and Ivy swam like a little persevering fish, against what continues to be stiff competition on the girls' side of things.

A nice Saturday in our neighborhood.  Garage sales in the neighborhood and the cuteness of this traveling lemonade stand.  It was about 450 degrees out so we spent most of the day at the pool...

Sunday-- We had "outdoor church" which was lovely despite the heat.  We'd planned to go to a Dogapalooza event in Lakewood but our poor puppy had been ill on Saturday night so we laid low with her for the day.

Nat and I snuck out for a celebration of our 12th anniversary that evening:  Dinner at Greenhouse Tavern and sunset at Voinovich Park. Perfect.  God bless leaving the kids home on devices.  Date nights are so easy now!

I got a kick out of this older Asian lady taking selfies in the sunset.  It's great people-watching at Voinovich.

Monday-- a trip to the Money Museum with the kids.  They enjoyed it despite whining about going-- like most things.

Here's Jack blocking the view of his sister posing in the dollar.  Look at the joy on that face.  What are we going to do with him?

And then-- it was time to clean and do laundry and pack for travel.  We are getting very good at this.
