In the sunshine

I'd really, really like this to be a 3-day weekend, if you don't mind.

The weather this weekend!  It could stay this way forever.  68 degree sunshine, blue skies, the tiniest hint of spring green on the trees, daffodils springing out into bloom before my eyes.

We soaked it all up with a vengeance, and have the pink noses to prove it.

Look!  our first daffodil!

Nat was away at a conference Friday through Saturday. Managed to captain the ship without him though of course it was wonderful to welcome him back today.  Jack and Ivy have entered into this phase where they really want to be with one another and then, the moment they are close enough, they begin bickering and harassing one another until one of them whines for parental intervention.   There were more than a few moments this weekend that left me wondering HOW in the world Nathaniel manages this little troupe full time.

Thankfully, there was the sunshine to make it all OK.

Friday, Nat dropped the littles off in Solon where we spent time at the big playground before meeting our friends at Legacy Village for Chipotle and tag, in the sunshine.

Saturday we did this crazy thing where we didn't really DO too much.  We stayed home for most of the day.  We cleaned.  We did chores.  We went to soccer, and lingered after.  We walked to a neighbor's yard.  We vegged in front of screens.  We went for ice cream.

I hear people have days like this sometimes.  What an interesting way to live.

I have to admit it was pretty nice.

Jack could NOT stop talking about his soccer game.  He was SO pleased.  The Comets won, 4-2.  Jack states that his strengths are defense and blocking the ball.  He is over the moon to have TWO good friends on his team.  What a wonderful start to the season....

Ivy was also happy to have a friend to help pass the time-- and will likely get to join in on the soccer next week as there is room on her friend's team.  Hooray!  Except for the part where we now get to be at soccer for 3 hours every Saturday.  This is all fine as long as the weather stays JUST LIKE THIS.

Luckily today it was back to business as usual, with our time budgeted down to the half hour as we juggled social commitments.

But in this sunshine-- it all felt doable.  Relaxed.  Just right.    Waffles and coffee and sunshine for breakfast.  Cooking with Nat and playing with Ivy.  Picnic and History Museum and friend and sunshine for lunch.  A meetup with my sister at Lakeview, complete with aimless wandering among the tombstones for the better part of an hour.  A delightful moment that involved all four of us snuggled up on a sun-lit bed to watch a Youtube video called "How animals eat".  Giggles and snuggly children and sunshine and the feeling of time expanding to hold it all.  Time enough for an 8 mile run and folding the laundry, even, before dinner swap tonight...

Not everything in my life is perfect just now.  There are a few things I wish I could change, some parts of April I'm not looking forward to, a litany of complaints that I could get into.

But I won't.

Instead I'm going to linger in the sunshine a little longer, and let it fortify me for the week ahead.
