Kindergarten

And, he's off!

After all the nerves and the build up and a bit of trauma on the first day (involving a boy being held back by his teacher, crying, as his guilt-ridden daddy walked away), we have made it through that day and all 3 days of the first real week of Kindergarten.  Jack has been slowly adjusting, in a very Jack sort of way.  Not admitting that its easier, of course, but greeting each day with less trepidation and today, a little hint of a smile.

He tells us very little-- no surprise there, I suppose.  But little bits come out, on the way home, while snuggling into bed, coaxed out of him by Daddy's careful, choice based questions.  He has had music, and art, and gym this week and so far gym is his favorite.  Some kids pack their lunch and some kids buy and the aide will help you pay and get you and orange if you want it.  Some of the food on the hot lunch looks good, but he is always going to pack his lunch, never buy-- so he says. They haven't done any math yet but they get to play on both playgrounds.
There you have it-- Kindergarten according to Jack.

Its almost becoming commonplace, already.  The thought that he is at school all day-- already it is surprising me less.  It is becoming our new normal.  And I think the boy may like it in spite of himself....
