It's been a bit gloomy around here recently. Forty-six degrees and drizzly today, with the tops of the skyscrapers hidden in cloud on our drive home from Lakewood tonight. You'd never guess that it's mid May. I am most certainly looking forward to another taste of Springtime. Really. Anytime now...
Drippy weather aside, we had a nice weekend, with a date night to the West Shore Chorale Benefit on Saturday, then a trip with my mom to see West Side Story at Playhouse Square on Sunday. I could get used to treatment like this! Both events were fun and the weekend overall was very relaxing. I love this point in the school year, when I stop feeling guilty about not doing schoolwork at home, because there's so much less to do.
(side note: I cannot believe that there are only 3 1/2 weeks left in this school year. Where did it go??? It's that point in the year when I am ready to be done but also sad to leave this year behind only to step into the unknown of a new year-as-yet-unplanned....)
The following pictures were from our trip to Rocky River Beach on Saturday morning. Jack has been hoping to go to the beach for a while so off we went, cold grey skies be damned. It wasn't actively raining and that qualified as a nice enough day out, seeing the kind of month we've had...
Turns out, the grey skies were magic. The lake blended into the horizon so completely that the breakwall seemed like the edge of the world, and the family of geese that came by, seemed to be floating on a mirror in midair. In the midst of this enchantment, a dog swam and jumped and chased and barked, a boy climbed and threw stones and threw sticks and ran and ran and ran, and a girl climbed on logs and walked on bare tiptoes in the sand. Turns out, it was a perfect day for the beach.
Another good thing about the rain: Little blue rain boots waiting on the porch.

I love everything about this post. I got some magical photos of the beach in Tahoe during a snowstorm, so I know what you mean!
