Retrospective: October

We were gifted with a lovely autumn here in Northeast Ohio.   Brilliant foliage, clear skies, glorious sunsets... and busy days, concert weeks, natural beauty and nights on the town.

In a way I am enjoying these "retrospective" posts because when I stack up the captured moments of a whole month in one place, it becomes abundantly clear that this is one very beautiful life I get to live.

Lake life just never disappoints.  Our evening walks are always gorgeous and sometimes utterly stunning...

Halloween decor alongside our summer garden, which was still going gangbusters through this whole month.
A vegan version of the Kensington's mushroom mac n'cheese because Holly is entirely too good to me.

The view from my classroom for the month...

In a surprising and wonderful turn of events, we got to go to a pig roast potluck at a dahlia farm. (Thanks, new friends from a random gallery visit)  It was everything I imagined it would be, on a sultry sunny day, fields of magnificent flowers on all sides, free for the picking before the first frost.
Magical.

Ivy and Vio headed to our friend Mallory's barn for the first time in a while, to welcome home Tico.  Happy girls.

Holly and I celebrated a "luna-versary" at Zhug.  Happy us.

I performed the Mahler 3 with COC.  4 lovely minutes of singing, followed by 20 minutes of standing very still til the end of the piece...  But still an honor and privelege to make music in this space, every time.

Alice.  A joy in our lives.  From our daily lake walks where we meet neighbors and their dogs and they are her best friends in an instant, to dressing her up in her first PJ's, to her 3 foot vertical leap paired with yelping, which she employs any time we aren't paying direct attention to her... Everything she does is cute...

Date night at Quntana's speakeasy...

Annual visit to Chapin Forest.

Blustery, beautiful beach days...
(tank tops in October!!)
Prepping for Halloween at Superior....

Golf team banquet at Proximity...
I don't know if I mentioned lake walks, and Alice??

A day at Stan Hywet to use our Ohio Mart tickets...

Cocktail Choir, the "folk night" edition...  Our crew of COC friends here grows every month...

Holly and I took the kiddos to Nelson's Ledges and it was a joy to share one our favorite places with her.  The kids talked me into climbing up a rock wall and shimmying into a tiny cave, which was a fun and exhausting adventure for me.

Jack and some of his fabulous friends were honored by our Board of Education for being AP Scholars of honor.  So proud of all of these kids...
