November Light

Hello there, November!  How fast you've come this year.  Like someone flipped a switch, all of a sudden the temperatures have dropped and November clouds have gathered and even with daylight savings time the nights are starting to feel very very long.  We're momentarily in that liminal space between holidays, no longer running off to the beach every chance we can get, but not quite ready to put up the Christmas lights.

Luckily we've been able to find some ways to fill the (colder, darker) hours this week...

A high school musical, for starters!  Ivy was very excited to be able to participate in the CH production of "Damn Yankees" as part of the Boulevard Honor Choir, despite her professed stage fright.  She ended up enjoying a lot and I am hopeful this will inspire her to get involved with drama in some way throughout her school years.  Such a wonderful opportunity to make friends and memories.

As with last year's musical, the best part for me (besides seeing my little blondie up there!) was spotting all of the different kiddos from our community who I've known through the years.  You can just watch them grow up under those lights. Wonderful talent and stunning amounts of energy from these beautiful young people. I am so proud of my whole community.

Our little star after opening night.
Thinking of lights, and things to do... Cleveland has a new art installation downtown.  I just love public art and its power to draw people in.    These prisms are pretty neat.

But of course our kiddos had just as much fun with the permanently installed cannons.  Turns out they can find fun anywhere as long as we force them to separate from their screens for a bit...
Also on the list of "cool things in the CLE"-- the maker fair!  A maker fair, as far as I can tell, is a space where if you do a thing and you create SOMETHING from it, then you can come and show that thing to everyone.    So the Science Center was chock full of creative, interesting people just doing their thing.  Everything from robots to interactive light boards to crochet art to the SCA.
Ivy brought along her good friend Violet and they had a super time together.  Vio is at a new school this year so the girls aren't seeing one another every day.  We are hoping that, with a little help from "special event" playdates, they can maintain their super-sweet friendship....

 So far so good.

 Happy November, all!
