The breakneck pace of fall continues unabated. A 5:00am wakeup time, full day of work, and then two children who MUST act like banshees at all times in the evening means that I can hardly keep my eyes open as I type tonight. But in the midst of the madness we do have some respite-- in the form of days like yesterday.
After a wash of a day on Saturday (quite literally, with drippy, steely rain from start to finish), yesterday dawned clear and breezy and lush, and we spent every bit of it loving on our city.
It's good to remember, even with all of its foibles and imperfections, high taxes and lack of Lakefront, I do in fact love where I live.
A few moments from last week in the Heights:
Monday evening bike ride to piano lessons...
Wednesdays at Rec ballet! We run into at least 2 neighbors each time we go. Jack and I run laps on the track while Ivy dances. It is so wholesome it hurts.
Randomly making chicken costumes on a Thursday...
Sunday fun...
Jack and I ran in the inaugural Heights Happy 5K and Mile.
Jack was second overall in the mile with a time of 7:14. The kid blows me away with his drive and determination.
Ran into--you guessed it! -- some friends while we were there....
Afternoon at Wade Oval...
Visiting the week-old chalk art. Still lovely...
Trying to get to "International Community Day," we were sidetracked by the ArtCarts, where we got to handle 400 year old armor. It was awesome.
Then, after walking briefly through the Community Day performances (ethnic costumes! exotic music! funny hats! really hard to see,,,) we had a feed a hungry Ivy so we walked to the Gardens, where the Cafe came through with a nice meal and a perfect place to eat it. I could have stayed on the Terrace forever..
Hide and Seek in the gardens to close out the afternoon on this crisp-blue Cleveland day.
Fall is coming soon and the darkness of winter on its heels... but this weekend we were loving the light here in the Heights. Feeling blessed to be a part of this place.
