Camping Shenanigans

We had our second adventure in family camping this weekend.  All things considered (and a few roadblocks put aside), we are calling it a success.  Our grand plan for two nights of camping this time was truncated by the threat of storms on Sunday night (we did NOT want to pack up wet tents, in the rain, a day before traveling again), and the amount of stuff we took along and set up and was nothing short of ridiculous for one night away-- but we made the most of the time we had, and a good time was had by all.

Finding our campsite was a bit ... trying... but we finally moved a fire ring, convinced two different staff members that yes, we COULD stay in the site we'd chosen and set up in, and successfully amassed our friends and things were fine.  Plus we finally discovered the adorable beach and water park, definitely the crown jewel of Clay's Park.

We spent a great afternoon there on Saturday and then swam away pretty much the entire day Sunday (with a little time off to fish, play mini golf, read and relax at the campsite, of course.)

These two traded swimsuits.  They were so very proud of themselves.

You should've seen Jack and Max climbing and jumping and swimming for hours, all independent and strong and brave. They even did the giant waterslide that shot them out a good 8 feet above the water.  Amazing boys.
