Apple Day

There are some mornings when the world is so beautiful it hurts your heart; some hours which, instead of passing by, will be inscribed on the slate of memory.

Like the hour we spent at Eddy's Fruit Farm this morning, for Apple Day.

It was the archetype of a fall day, 56 degrees with a mix of clouds and blue in the sky, and the first blush of fall on the woods around the orchard.  There were plenty of other people, children and dogs in tow, wandering happily around the farm, yet (as it always does at Eddy's) it somehow felt like we had the place to ourselves.  Our own personal fall paradise.

A stop for pumpkins and lunch at McDonald's rounded out the morning...

We are so grateful for our wonderful friends, and for our wonderful traditions.  Coffee and donuts by the car, chilly hands, munching on apples as we walk and walk between the trees... I do love apple day...

A few pics from our first Apple Day in 2009.  All three of the girls are in this picture... ;)

In some other news:

Ivy has started piano lessons!  She is terribly excited.  She'll be working with a great neighbor of ours once a week.  We'll see how we do keeping up with the practicing...

We are chick-sitting this weekend!  Our first floor is full of sweet little peeping noises.  The kids love them...

Our first Second Sunday Soup is tomorrow!  A weekend of friends and fall tradition, indeed.  Enjoy the warmth and beauty of the season, dear ones.
